A beautiful retreat

A lovely cottage, friendly host, well-appointed and an ideal location for a peaceful break. (And a comfortable bed and a decent shower!) Thank you so much.

A wonderful luxurious break for us as Pat puts up with chemo and we had to miss the family wedding party. Alex and Kate were very helpful, the wood burner added to the comfort of the Hide. The bed and bed linen were super comfortable. Loved the space in the bathroom. So easy to get to Rutland water, Normanton church and Barnsdale gardens. Great eateries around too, don’t forget to ask! Thanks so much.

Relaxing stay at The Linney

We stayed here for one night and had a lovely stay. Alex was there to welcome us on arrival and show us around. The room and shower room were very clean and well equipped. We had a great breakfast in the morning which kept us going all day. Great hosts and charming place. Thank you.

A very special place to stay

Oh what a find this place is! The accommodation is beautifully finished, and the design of the property very slick to make the most of the space. Lovely bedlinen and the comfiest super-king bed we've ever come across. Lovely to be able to sit outside and enjoy the garden, and the hosts are incredibly attentive without being intrusive. We stayed whilst attending a sailing event at Rutland Water and will be back again (and again!). A gem.

A holiday in itself

What a great find! Our son recommended this idyllic place after previously staying there himself. We loved the accommodation which is very private but could have stayed in a number of other cottages and converted barns that were available for a very flexible stay. Rutland Water was a delight and only a walk away. There is fishing and walking available to suit all but the real star of the trip was the fabulous accommodation. Alex and Kate were perfect in every way and we certainly enjoyed the fun and games provided by the two friendliest dogs you could meet. I hope they don't get too busy at Rutland Cottages as we want to return soon. Now which cottage shall we choose next time?

Special place

We had the most wonderful stay at The Linney during the Burghley Horse Trials. The apartment is comfortable, quiet and very nicely redecorated. Alex and Kate are very considerate hosts, attentive to every need (Alex provided us his delicious breakfast in the early hours of the morning in order to beat the queue to the event - much appreciated). And morning chats are always interesting! They have two adorable Border Terriers that - unfortunately - you are not allowed to take away with you. You’ll want to come back. We’ll surely do!

We had a great stay at The Linney, in fact it was exactly what we needed. It was immaculate, comfortable and cosy. We were taking part in the Rutland half marathon the next day so not only did Alex cook us a brilliant breakfast that morning but he then dropped us off by the race village. Oh and we had the best time playing with Scamp and Chilli. We would heartily recommend The Linney and Rutland Cottages to all planning a trip to Rutland Water. Thanks!

Absolutely amazing

Booked The Linney for a 1 night stay as we were attending a nearby wedding. The location was perfect and extremely comfortable. Off-street parking available. Comfortable bed. All of the added little touches made The Linney the perfect overnight stay & we wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely return and spend more time here! The breakfast on offer here was to die for and Alex & Kate were more than happy to help with anything. Please stay here if you're looking, you won't regret it!
